At IRONBOUND Boxing, We believe every kid should have access

to free and quality recreation.

That’s why we launched the IRONBOUND Boxing Academy, our free boxing gym located in Newark, NJ. The Academy was launched in conjunction with City of Newark’s Department of Recreational and Cultural Affairs. IRONBOUND Boxing serves as a haven from the mean streets of Newark. Proceeds from all our other services support the Academy and our commitment to free recreation for inner-city youth. To support our boxing Academy, feel free to make a donation. All donations are routed through our non-profit arm, IRONBOUND Boxing & Education. For specific details regarding the Academy, please see below.

Hours of Operation

THE IRONBOUND Boxing Academy is open 5 days at week at the following times:

Tuesday: 4-8PM

Wednesday: 4-8PM

Thursday: 4-8PM

Fridays: 4-8PM

Saturdays: 10-2PM

Membership Requirements

All Athletes are required to obtain an official Department of Recreation I.D. Card at the front Desk:

Newark Residents: 5 dollars, for the year

Non-Newark Residents: 15 Dollars, for the Year

Age requirement to participate in the training is 10 years old and Up (Unaccompanied)

Children younger then 10 are able to train under the supervision of their parent or guardian


Competition Requirements

To compete in amateur boxing competitions as a member of the IRONBOUND Boxing Team, athletes must undergo a minimum of 6 month-1 year training, under the supervision of the IRONBOUND Boxing Coaches. Once an athlete has demonstrated his or her ability to protect themselves and compete a high level, IRONBOUND Boxing will register them with USA Boxing. The fee for Registration is $65 per year.
